03 / 1 3/1: Stand Up for the Right to March on the RNC to Stop the War Start: 11:00 am End: 1:00 pm There will be a rally at the MN State Capitol building, followed by a march to the Xcel Energy Center (future location of the RNC), which will return to the State Capitol. With 5 years of war and occupation in Iraq, it is very important for the anti-war movement to have a major national protest outside the Republican National Convention in St. Paul when it is held this September. City officials have been dragging their feet on granting permits for a major march on Sept 1. more info

St. Paul city officials have not yet granted permits for the anti-war march on September 1. A federal judge will consider our case, and we need supporters there. We'll have a rally/press conference outside at 1pm, and then go inside for the hearing at 2pm. more info

05 / 21 Take the battle for the permit to St. Paul City Council! Start: 3:00 pm End: 5:30 pm Join members of the Coalition to March on the RNC and Stop the War at a press conference in front of St Paul City Hall at 3:00 PM. (15 West Kellogg Blvd., St. Paul). After the press conference, pack the St Paul City Council meeting which starts at 3:30 PM. This is an important council meeting to attend. The City Council will hear an appeal of the inadequate permit the city issued for the massive September 1 anti-war march that is planned for at the Republican National Convention. more info

We recognize that protests at the RNC will take many forms. With that in mind, we have worked for common ground with other forces to ensure that our various projects work in concert, with a commitment to ensure no one's plans are disrupted or undermined by fellow protesters. Our coalition agrees to the following principles for the September 1, 2008, March on the RNC.

(1) our solidarity will be based on respect for diversity of tactics and the plans of other groups.

(2) the actions and tactics used will be organized to maintain a separation of time or space.

(3) any debates or criticisms will stay internal to the movement, avoiding any public or media denunciations of fellow activists and events.

(4) we oppose any state repression of dissent, including surveillance, infiltration, disruption and violence. We agree not to assist law enforcement actions against activists and others.
